** Αγκάθια.... στο δρόμο του υπόγειου πάρκινγκ στην πόλη της Καλαμάτας ..

*  Όχι του ΣτΕ στην αλλαγή χρήσης κοινόχρηστου χώρου
* Μπορεί τις προηγούμενες ημέρες το Ελεγκτικό Συνέδριο να ενέκρινε την αλλαγή της σύμβασης μεταξύ Δήμου Καλαμάτας και «Παντεχνικής» για την κατασκευή του υπόγειου χώρου στάθμευσης στο ύψος του Διοικητηρίου και ο δήμαρχος Παν. Νίκας να ανακοίνωνε περιχαρής την οσονούπω έναρξη των εργασιών, που θα άλλαζαν προς το καλύτερο, κατά τη γνώμη της Δημοτικής Αρχής, το ύφος και την αισθητική της περιοχής, όμως μέχρι να φτάσουμε σ’ αυτό το σημείο έχουμε αρκετό δρόμο να διανύσουμε.
* Κι αυτό, διότι, όπως επισημαίνουν σε πολυσέλιδη έκθεσή τους οι επιθεωρητές δημόσιας διοίκησης για ανάλογο έργο στην Αθήνα, δεν είναι νόμιμη η κατασκευή γκαράζ κάτω από κοινόχρηστο χώρο πράσινου και αναψυχής.

**Αγωγός φυσικού αερίου

* Ξεκίνησαν οι εργασίες για μεταφορά του
* Ξεκίνησαν τις προηγούμενες ημέρες οι προετοιμασίες για τη μεταφορά από το λιμάνι της Καλαμάτας στη Μεγαλόπολη της τουρμπίνας βάρους 300 τόνων, η οποία αποτελεί το βασικότερο εξάρτημα για την κατασκευή του εργοστασίου παραγωγής ηλεκτρικής ενέργειας με φυσικό αέριο, από την εταιρεία «ΤΕΡΝΑ».
* Εκτός από τις εργασίες στο λιμάνι, παρεμβάσεις θα γίνουν και στη γέφυρα του Νέδοντα που βρίσκεται στην οδό Λυκούργου, η οποία θα υποστυλωθεί προκειμένου να «σηκώσει» το βάρος.

** Εκπρόσωποι των παρατάξεων στο "Θ"

*  Φοιτητικές εκλογές στην Καλαμάτα
* Με τρεις παρατάξεις - ΠΑΣΠ, ΔΑΠ και ΠΚΣ - να διεκδικούν την ψήφο των φοιτητών διεξήχθησαν χθες οι φοιτητικές εκλογές στην Πανεπιστημιακή Σχολή Καλαμάτας και στο ΤΕΙ. Το «Θ» βρέθηκε στα δύο εκπαιδευτικά ιδρύματα και μίλησε με εκπρόσωπους των φοιτητικών παρατάξεων.

**Συγχώνευση 6ου - 3ου

* Προσωρινός… «Καλλικράτης» στους Παιδικούς Σταθμούς
* Για μια σειρά από λόγους που αναπτύσσονται σε σχετική ανακοίνωση που εκδόθηκε, το Διοικητικό Συμβούλιο του Νομικού Προσώπου των Δημοτικών Παιδικών Σταθμών του Δήμου Καλαμάτας αποφάσισε την προσωρινή συστέγαση του 6ου με τον 3ο Παιδικό Σταθμό, ο οποίος βρίσκεται στην περιοχή της Τέντας στο Ανατολικό Κέντρο.

**Τριμελές Εφετείο

* Πρώην αιρετοί «στο σκαμνί» για απιστία που αφορά στην εκτέλεση 9 έργων
* Για απιστία κατηγορούνται πρώην πρόεδρος της Κοινότητας Τρικόρφου, δύο κοινοτικοί σύμβουλοι και ένας εργολάβος δημοσίων έργων, που έχει συγγενική σχέση με τον πρώτο, για 9 έργα στην περιοχή το 2006, τα οποία, ενώ είχε αποφασίσει το Κοινοτικό Συμβούλιο και πληρώθηκαν, δεν έχουν εκτελεστεί. Οι πρώην αιρετοί, κατά τη χθεσινή ακροαματική διαδικασία στο Τριμελές Εφετείο Κακουργημάτων, υποστήριξαν πως για λόγους έκτακτης ανάγκης οι πιστώσεις για τα συγκεκριμένα έργα διατέθηκαν στην εκτέλεση άλλων έργων στην περιοχή, παραδεχόμενοι ίσως παρατυπία, αλλά όχι πως ενήργησαν με αυτό τον τρόπο προκειμένου να έχουν ίδιο οικονομικό όφελος.

**TEI Καλαμάτας

*  Αντιδράσεις για τη μη εισαγωγή φοιτητών σε δύο τμήματα
* Την αντίδραση των δύο τμημάτων του ΤΕΙ Καλαμάτας, στα οποία αποφασίστηκε να μην εισαχθούν φέτος φοιτητές, προκάλεσε η σχετική ανακοίνωση του υπουργείου Παιδείας. Πρόκειται για το ΒΙΟΘΕΚΑ και το Φυτικής Παραγωγής, ενώ την αντίθεσή του στην απόφαση του ΥΠΕΠΘ εκφράζει και το Δ.Σ. του ΕΣΕΠ ΤΕΙ.

**Τριφυλία

*  Διαφορετικές προσεγγίσεις για τα «λουκέτα» στο Δ.Σ.
* Με διαφορετικές αφετηρίες και προσεγγίσεις για τα «λουκέτα» σε δημόσιες υπηρεσίες της Τριφυλίας διεξήχθη χθες το απόγευμα η συνεδρίαση του Δημοτικού Συμβουλίου Τριφυλίας με ένα και μοναδικό θέμα, την «αποψίλωση του Δήμου Τριφυλίας από δημόσιες υπηρεσίες». Από τη συνεδρίαση, ωστόσο, δεν έλειψαν οι «κορώνες», οι άναρθρες κραυγές και τα «λογύδρια» με καθαρά κομματικό περιεχόμενο, κάτι που σχολιάστηκε δυσμενώς και ποικιλοτρόπως από συμβούλους, καθώς και από αρκετούς πολίτες.

**Τελικοί Δημοτικών Σχολείων

*  Αθλητική γιορτή χθες στην πλατεία
* Οι τελικοί αγώνες των πρωταθλημάτων βόλεϊ και μπάσκετ Δημοτικών Σχολείων έφεραν χθες τον αθλητισμό στο κέντρο της Καλαμάτας, μια αθλητική γιορτή που διοργάνωσε ο Αθλητικός Φορέας του Δήμου Καλαμάτας, σε συνεργασία με το Γραφείο Φυσικής Αγωγής.

** Ζητά ο Μεσσηνιακός από το Δ. Καλαμάτας

*  Ενίσχυση (και) για τα φετινά «Παπαφλέσσεια»
* Στο πλαίσιο της διεξαγωγής για 17η συνεχή χρονιά στην Καλαμάτα της διεθνούς συνάντησης στίβου «Τα Παπαφλέσσεια», ο Μεσσηνιακός Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος ζητά την οικονομική στήριξη από το Δήμο με 20.000 ευρώ.
** Μάλιστα, σε σχετική επιστολή προς το δήμαρχο Καλαμάτας Παν. Νίκα, την οποία υπογράφουν ο πρόεδρος του συλλόγου Γ. Νταβουτιάν και ο γ. γραμματέας Παν. Στασινόπουλος, αναφέρεται μεταξύ άλλων: «Ο Δήμος Καλαμάτας, η Περιφέρεια Πελοποννήσου και ο Μεσσηνιακός Γυμναστικός Σύλλογος συνδιοργανώνουν για 17η συνεχή χρονιά τη Διεθνή Συνάντηση Στίβου “Τα Παπαφλέσσεια” και το 2011 είναι προγραμματισμένη από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ομοσπονδία να διεξαχθεί στις 4 Ιουνίου.
* Η Ευρωπαϊκή Ομοσπονδία στο πρόσφατό της συνέδριο έθεσε όρους για τη διεξαγωγή των συναντήσεων και καθόρισε 9 από τα 14 αγωνίσματα των αγώνων, ενώ όρισε ως ελάχιστο πριμ στους αθλητές το ποσό των 37.000 ευρώ.
* Η οικονομική ενίσχυση από το Δήμο Καλαμάτας είναι καθοριστική για τη συνέχιση των αγώνων, ιδιαίτερα φέτος που λόγω της οικονομικής κρίσης υπάρχουν μεγάλα προβλήματα στην εύρεση χορηγών. Παρακαλούμε όπως ο Δήμος Καλαμάτας στηρίξει οικονομικά τη διεθνή συνάντηση με το ποσό των 20.000 ευρώ».

**Επιστολή Μητροπολίτη Μεσσηνίας για ΚΕΔΒ

* Ζητεί τη διατήρησή του από τον υπουργό Εθνικής Άμυνας
* Ο Μητροπολίτης Μεσσηνίας κ.κ. Χρυσόστομος απέστειλε προς τον υπουργό Εθνικής Άμυνας Ευάγγελο Βενιζέλο την παρακάτω επιστολή για τη διατήρηση του Κέντρου Εκπαιδεύσεως Διαβιβάσεων (ΚΕΔΒ) Καλαμάτας:
*** «Εξοχώτατε Κύριε Υπουργέ,
* Με την παρούσα επιστολή μου, η οποία δεν θα ήθελα να θεωρηθή ως παρέμβασιν αναμείξεως εις τας αρμοδιότητας της Υμετέρας Εξοχότητος, επιθυμώ απλώς να εκφράσω την ευγενή έκκλησιν όλων των φορέων του Νομού Μεσσηνίας και ειδικότερον της πόλεως της Καλαμάτας σχετικώς με την κατάργησιν λειτουργίας του Κέντρου Εκπαιδεύσεως Διαβιβάσεων (ΚΕΔΒ), το οποίον από του έτους 2004 και εφεξής, έχει καταστεί αναπόσπαστον και αναγκαίον στοιχείον εις την εν γένει ζωήν της πόλεως και του Νομού, καθώς και σημαντικός παράγων δια την ανάπτυξιν της τοπικής οικονομίας.
* Το συγκεκριμένον στρατόπεδον ενηγκαλίσθησαν όλοι οι Τοπικοί Φορείς (Δήμος, Εκκλησία, Εκπαίδευσις, Επιχειρηματικός κόσμος κ.ά.), ενώ με την παρουσίαν του αφομοιώθη άριστα εις τον κοινωνικόν ιστόν της πόλεως της Καλαμάτας, άνευ προβληματικών συνεπειών ή δυσλειτουργιών.
* Επειδή η συνεχής κατάργησις διαφόρων Υπηρεσιών του Δημοσίου Τομέως, εις τα όρια του Νομού και κυρίως της πρωτευούσης αυτού πόλεως, της Καλαμάτας, έχει ήδη εμφανίσει τα πρώτα σημεία οικονομικής κάμψεως, θεωρούμεν, ότι η απομάκρυνσις του Στρατοπέδου ΚΕΔΒ θα συμβάλη εις την έτι περαιτέρω διατάραξιν ή επιτάχυνσιν των ανωτέρω οικονομικών συνεπειών εις τα όρια του Νομού, με συνεπείας εν τω βάθει του χρόνου την εμφάνισιν και προβλημάτων κοινωνικής συνοχής.

Κύριε Υπουργέ,

Με την ελπίδα ότι τελικώς θα υπάρξη μία ορθολογικοτέρα αντιμετώπισις του όλου θέματος, και το παρόν αίτημα θα τύχη της θετικής αντιμετωπίσεως υφ’ Υμών, επ’ ωφελεία του Νομού Μεσσηνίας και της πόλεως της Καλαμάτας, διατελούμεν».

**Δυτική Μάνη

* Προβλήματα σε υδατοδεξαμενές
* Προβλήματα λειτουργίας εμφανίζουν οι δύο υδατοδεξεμενές που βρίσκονται στο Καρυοβούνι και στη Γιάτρισσα του Δήμου Δυτικής Μάνης, σύμφωνα με όσα επισημάνθηκαν χθες, κατά την πολύωρη συνεδρίαση του Συντονιστικού Τοπικού Οργάνου στην Καρδαμύλη. Η διαπίστωση προέκυψε μετά από έλεγχο στο πλαίσιο συντήρησης των υποδομών που θα φανούν χρήσιμες σε πιθανή πυρκαγιά. Όπως μας είπε ο δήμαρχος Δημ. Γιαννημάρας, θα σταλεί έγγραφο στον αντιπεριφερειάρχη Μεσσηνίας, προκειμένου να ελεγχθεί αν υπάρχει υποχρέωση του αναδόχου να επιδιορθώσει το πρόβλημα, αλλά και να ζητηθεί ο τρόπος επιδιόρθωσης της βλάβης.
* Κατά τη συνεδρίαση του οργάνου, στην οποία παρέστησαν ο προϊστάμενος της Πολιτικής Προστασίας Μαν. Κοβάτσης, εκπρόσωπος της Πυροσβεστικής, οι εθελοντές της περιοχής και τα Τοπικά Συμβούλια, αποφασίστηκε να δοθεί ιδιαίτερο βάρος στην πρόληψη των πυρκαγιών και προς τούτο θα υπάρχει εθελοντική φύλαξη για ολόκληρο το 24ωρο σε συγκεκριμένες περιοχές.

**  Κατηγορούνται για μεταφορά λαθρομεταναστών

Τη Δευτέρα η απόφαση για τους Ουκρανούς
 Προβληματισμό προκάλεσε χθες στο Τριμελές Εφετείο Κακουργημάτων ο νομικός ισχυρισμός του συνηγόρου υπεράσπισης Γ. Ράλλη στην υπόθεση δύο Ουκρανών που κατηγορούνται πως μετέφεραν 48 λαθρομετανάστες με ιστιοφόρο. Η υπόθεση εκδικάσθηκε κανονικά, ωστόσο το Δικαστήριο επιφυλάχθηκε να εκδώσει απόφαση για την τύχη τους το μεσημέρι της Δευτέρας.
 Ο κ. Ράλλης επισήμανε ότι το ιστιοφόρο που μετέφερε τους 50 μετανάστες είχε κατεύθυνση την Ιταλία και πως αν δεν είχε πάθει βλάβη, δε θα γινόταν ρυμούλκηση στα ελληνικά χωρικά ύδατα. Κατά συνέπεια, δεν είχαν πρόθεση να βρεθούν σε ελληνικό έδαφος και, σύμφωνα με τον κ. Ράλλη, δεν μπορεί να εφαρμοσθεί η ποινική νομοθεσία.
 Κινδύνευαν
 Το περιστατικό συνέβη στις 19 Μαρτίου του 2010, όταν το ιστιοφόρο, το οποίο, όπως αποδείχθηκε στη συνέχεια, είχε κλαπεί ένα χρόνο πριν από μαρίνα της Μάλτας, εξέπεμψε SOS λόγω βλάβης στη μηχανή, ενώ εξαιτίας της έντονης θαλασσοταραχής κινδύνευε. Εκείνη τη στιγμή βρισκόταν 33 ναυτικά μίλια νότια της Μεθώνης και επειδή το πλωτό του Λιμενικού δεν μπορούσε να πλησιάσει λόγω της κακοκαιρίας, γαλλικό εμπορικό πλοίο το ρυμούλκησε μέχρι το Βενέτικο. Από εκεί το ρυμούλκησε ρυμουλκό μέχρι την Πύλο. Σε αυτό επέβαιναν 50 λαθρομετανάστες, ανάμεσά τους και περίπου 10 παιδιά (ηλικίας ακόμα και 4 μηνών). Οι δε λαθρομετανάστες υπέδειξαν δύο νεαρούς Ουκρανούς ως αυτούς που κυβερνούσαν το σκάφος.
 Λιμενικός κατέθεσε ότι η κακοκαιρία εκείνη την ημέρα ήταν μεγάλη και υπήρχε κίνδυνος και για το σκάφος και για τους ανθρώπους που επέβαιναν. Χαρακτηριστικά μίλησε για δραματική νύχτα, αφού τα σωστικά μέσα στο ιστιοφόρο δεν ήταν επαρκή για τόσα άτομα, ενώ το Λιμενικό δεν μπορούσε να προσεγγίσει το σκάφος λόγω της θαλασσοταραχής. Διευκρίνισε, επίσης, ότι 6 ναυτικά μίλια από την ακτογραμμή ξεκινούν τα διεθνή ύδατα.
 Εκπρόσωπος της εταιρείας που ανήκει το ιστιοφόρο παραστάθηκε στη χθεσινή διαδικασία, ζητώντας την άρση της κατάσχεσής του και την απόδοση στην ιδιοκτήτρια. Εξήγησε ότι το σκάφος εκλάπη από μαρίνα στη Μάλτα το Μάρτιο του 2009 και είχε δοθεί σήμα σε όλες τις αρχές. Εντοπίσθηκε όταν το δορυφορικό σύστημα που διαθέτει εξέπεμψε σήμα κινδύνου το βράδυ που βρέθηκε νότια της Μεθώνης.
 Προβληματισμός
 Στις απολογίες τους οι δύο νεαροί Ουκρανοί ανέφεραν ότι Τούρκος δουλέμπορος εισέπραττε 3.000 ευρώ από το κάθε μετανάστη προκειμένου να τους μεταφέρει στην Ιταλία. Οι δύο συγκεκριμένοι δεν είχαν χρήματα και συμφώνησαν με τον Τούρκο να εργασθούν στο ιστιοφόρο και να το οδηγήσουν έως την Ιταλία. Όπως είπαν, δεν ήθελαν να έρθουν Ελλάδα, αλλά χάλασε το σκάφος και λόγω της κακοκαιρίας τούς ρυμούλκησαν.
 Η εισαγγελέας στην αγόρευσή της πρότεινε να τους αναγνωρισθεί ελαφρυντικό, σημείωσε όμως πως μετέφεραν 48 άτομα λαθραία και γι’ αυτό πρέπει να καταδικασθούν όπως κατηγορούνται.
 Ο συνήγορος υπεράσπισης των δύο Ουκρανών, Γεώργιος Ράλλης, εξ αρχής υπογράμμισε ότι τους ρυμούλκησαν και δεν ήρθαν με τη θέλησή τους στην Ελλάδα, αφού προορισμός ήταν η Ιταλία. Χαρακτηριστικά, είπε πως έγινε διάσωση και δεν μπορούν να εφαρμοσθούν οι ποινικοί νόμοι.

H ανάβασή μας στον Ερύμανθο… μια μέρα στον παράδεισο
  Όταν δήλωσα τη συμμετοχή μου προκειμένου να συμμετάσχω στην ανάβαση του όρους Ερυμάνθου, που διοργάνωνε ο ΕΟΣ Καλαμάτας, δεν είχα την παραμικρή ιδέα για την εμπειρία που μου επεφύλασσε το εγχείρημα αυτό.
 Όταν έφτασα στο σύλλογο, το Σάββατο αργά το μεσημέρι, είδα το πίσω μέρος του μικρού πούλμαν του να ξεχειλίζει από παπλώματα, υπνόσακους και σκηνές. Η αποστολή ήταν πλήρης.
 Κατά τη διάρκεια της μακρινής μας διαδρομής με προορισμό το χωριό Μίχας, από όπου θα αρχίζαμε την ανάβαση, σταματήσαμε στην όμορφη κεντρική πλατεία του. Ο Μελέτης, ο Κώστας και ο Φάνης μού προσέφεραν εγκάρδια ένα φλιτζάνι καφέ.
 Κατόπιν, έγκαιρα στήσαμε τις σκηνές μας γύρω από τη μικρή εκκλησία του Αγίου Γεωργίου, πριν από τον ερχομό της νύχτας. Έπειτα, σπεύσαμε πρόσχαρα να πάμε στο εστιατόριο, όπου μια δυνατή φωτιά από ξύλα τριζοβολούσε στο τζάκι. Τι υπέροχο,
 ζεστό δείπνο! Την παραμονή της κατάκτησης της βουνοκορφής, η μελλοντική μας νίκη γιορτάστηκε γενναιόδωρα με την πρόποση που κάναμε, καθώς πίναμε το εξαίσιο τοπικό κρασί.
 Την Κυριακή το πρωί, μετά από ένα λιτό πρωινό, την αυγή ξεκινήσαμε σκεπτόμενοι πως ο στόχος μας βρισκόταν 1.200 μέτρα πιο ψηλά. Ο δρόμος ήταν φαρδύς, αλλά φοβερά απότομος, και συνειδητοποίησα ότι οι σύντροφοί μου βάδιζαν εκπληκτικά γρήγορα σε αυτήν τη χώρα, όπου τα πάντα είναι πραγματοποιήσιμα (πιθανά) υπό τον όρο να σέβονται τη βασική οδηγία: σιγά σιγά.
 Ευτυχώς, η θέα της κοιλάδας ήταν πολύ όμορφη και απαιτούσε το πάρσιμο φωτογραφιών…
 Καλή ευκαιρία για να ανακτήσω την αναπνοή μου.
 Λίγο αργότερα, ο Μανώλης, ο αγαπημένος μας πρόεδρος, μας έβγαλε από το δρόμο, οδηγώντας μας σε ένα μονοπάτι το οποίο ανέβαινε μέσα σε ένα όμορφο δάσος. Καθώς η ομάδα άρχιζε να εκτείνεται σε μια μακριά γραμμή, μας ενεθάρρυνε φωνάζοντας allez, allez (πάμε, πάμε), όπως ακριβώς κάνουν και οι θαυμαστές για να ενθαρρύνουν τους μαραθωνοδρόμους στη Γαλλία.
 Αναδυθήκαμε ψηλά στα ποιμενικά εδάφη και ο χιονισμένος βραχώδης όγκος του Ερυμάνθου υψωνόταν εμπρός μας με όλη του την άγρια υπεροχή. Προς στιγμήν, ξέχασα τις προσπάθειες που έπρεπε να καταβάλλουμε ακόμα, επειδή ήμουν συνεπαρμένος από την ομορφιά των τοπίων που μας περιτριγύριζαν.
 Η άβυσσος, οι αδιάβατοι βράχοι, οι τρομεροί όγκοι, τα δάση που κρέμονταν σε απρόσιτες πλαγιές, δημιουργούσαν αντίθεση με τις τεράστιες εκτάσεις της γλυκιάς χλόης, τους μικρούς χειμάρρους με τα κρυστάλλινα νερά, τα πολύχρωμα χαλιά των λουλουδιών που έπαιζαν με τα χαλιά του χιονιού, τα οποία είχαν παραμείνει από το χειμώνα. Οι παπαράτσι των λουλουδιών δεν ήξεραν τι να φωτογραφίσουν πρώτο από όλα. Υπήρχαν τόσα πολλά… Κρόκοι, ορχιδέες, καμπανούλες, μαργαρίτες και τόσα άλλα. Η ποικιλία αυτών των λουλουδιών, τα σχήματά τους, το μέγεθός τους, τα χρώματά τους, ήταν απερίγραπτα. Κατανόησα ότι η δημιουργικότητα της φύσης μας δεν έχει όρια.
 Αυτό που αντικρίσαμε είναι μια πρώτη γεύση του παραδείσου. Αλλά τόσο εύθραυστο. Σε αντάλλαγμα για την ομορφιά της και τη γενναιοδωρία της, αυτή η υπέροχη φύση είναι άξια του θαυμασμού και του σεβασμού μας.
 Ξάφνου, η απότομη πλαγιά των 400 μέτρων με έφερε πίσω στην πραγματικότητα. Τότε, τέθηκε το ερώτημα της μυικής δύναμης των ποδιών μας, του καρδιακού ρυθμού, της δύναμης της θέλησης, καθώς και της αποφασιστικότητας να υπερβούμε τον εαυτό μας.
 Μια ώρα αργότερα, μέσα από τα χαμόγελα των φίλων που με περίμεναν, η ανάβασή μου στην κορυφή έγινε, επιτέλους, μια θεσπέσια πραγματικότητα. Η χαρά της νίκης με ώθησε να τραγουδήσω το La Marseillaise. Τo τοπίο ήταν έξοχο και μεγαλοπρεπές.
 Όταν κοιτάξαμε κάτω από τα πόδια μας στα 1.500 μέτρα, το μικροσκοπικό χωριό όπου μας περίμενε το πουλμανάκι του ΕΟΣ, συνειδητοποίησα ότι ακόμα πιο δύσκολα πράγματα μας περίμεναν.
 Κατά τη διάρκεια της καθόδου μας, οι προτροπές allez, allez αντηχούσαν δυνατότερες από οποιαδήποτε άλλη φορά. Η προσπάθειά μας ήταν συνεχής, αλλά το μονοπάτι προς την κοιλάδα ήταν μια ευχαρίστηση που συνεχώς ανανεωνόταν. Το μονοπάτι βρισκόταν ανάμεσα στις δύο πλευρές του χειμάρρου, και θαρρείς πως αιωρούνταν πάνω σε προεξέχοντα τείχη. Αναπαυόταν πάνω σε απέραντους αγρούς λουλουδιών και ήταν μια μόνιμη χαρά.
 Την επιστροφή μας καλωσόρισαν το γευστικό νερό μιας δροσερής κρήνης, τα χαμόγελα και η άμετρη ευγένεια των φίλων μου. Όλα αυτά με έκαναν να ξεχάσω την κούραση αυτής της όμορφης μέρας.
 Στο αυτοκίνητο, κατά τη διάρκεια του ταξιδιού της επιστροφής μας, σκεπτόμουν πως οι Έλληνες είναι τυχεροί να είναι αυτό που είναι. Ζουν σε μια θεσπέσια χώρα, είναι ανοιχτόμυαλοι, ξένοιαστοι, χαρούμενοι, αισιόδοξοι, τους αρέσει το τραγούδι, ο χορός και έχουν μία τρομερή αίσθηση του χιούμορ. Ως Γάλλος είμαι ευγνώμων στην Ελλάδα, τη μητέρα γη του πολιτισμού μας. Αλλά ως άνθρωπος αισθάνομαι περισσότερο υποχρεωμένος στους φίλους μου για την απλότητα, την αυθόρμητη ευκολία του καλωσορίσματός τους, την ανοιχτή και γεμάτη από ευαισθησία καρδιά τους, τη ζεστασιά τους και τη γενναιοδωρία τους.
 Παρ’ όλο που στιγμές στιγμές κατά τη διάρκεια της δύσκολης αυτής μέρας αισθανόμουν πως βάδιζα στην κόλαση εξαιτίας του ήλιου, των βράχων και των αγκαθωτών θάμνων, τώρα συνειδητοποιώ ότι η ανάβασή μου στον Ερύμανθο μου έδωσε την ευκαιρία να βρεθώ και να περάσω μια μέρα στον παράδεισο.

**  Πριν 94 χρόνια

* ΑΓΝΩΣΤΟΙ διαρρήξαντες δια σιδηρών οργάνων την δυτικήν θύραν του ενταύθα και παρά τη Φραγκολίμνη Ιερού Ναού του Αγίου Νικολάου, παρεκκλησίου της Υπαπαντής, εισήλθον εντός αυτού και αφήρεσαν από το τραπέζιον της εισπράξεως περί τας τρεις δραχμάς αφ’ ου προηγουμένως έθραυσαν τελείως τα συρτάρια δια την διάνοιξιν.
*  ΟΙ επίτροποι του Ναού της Υπαπαντής κατήγγειλαν την ιερόσυλον ταύτην πράξιν προς την Αστυνομικήν Αρχήν επιληφθείσαν αμέσως συντόνων ανακρίσεων δια την ανακάλυψιν των ενόχων. Ευτυχώς οι φοβεροί ιερόσυλοι περιωρίσθησαν εις την κλοπήν των ολίγων χρημάτων και ουχί εις άλλα αργυρά σκεύη άτινα είχον μεταφερθεί εκεί εκ της Υπαπαντής δια τα εγκαίνια του Αγίου Αθανασίου.
*  -ΕΙΣ το χωρίον Ζέζα την 2-3 Μαΐου εκλάπη φορβάς έχουσα τα εξής χαρακτηριστικά: χρώμα τσέλικο, ανάστημα πρωτοδεύτερο και ετών 6. Ο ευρών ταύτην παρακαλείται να μας την παραδώση και θα αμοιφθή δια 50 δραχμών, άλλως τε θα εκδοθή επιτίμιον την προσεχή Κυριακήν εν Μελιγαλά.

From arrests and increased physical attacks on journalists to lynching attempts and a constitutional amendment, President Museveni seems to turning authoritarian and behaving like a predator just days after being sworn in for a fourth term."
 The press freedom organization added: "Although it is being submitted to a parliament in which the ruling National Resistance Movement has a big majority, this constitutional amendment must not be adopted because it poses a major threat to fundamental freedoms."

 During a news conference on 10 May, Museveni was very critical of the media's coverage of the "walk-to-work" protests, especially the Daily Monitor's. "This is something I would really advise you to stop because this country belongs to Ugandans, not newspapers or radio stations," he said. Two days later, he talked of reporting that was "wrong or in some cases malicious." It was at the 10 May news conference that the president unveiled the constitutional amendment.  Eurocommissar Olli Rehn points to three main challenges the G20 is currently addressing:
 * First, economic policies, including exchange rates and multilateral surveillance, should ensure effective adjustment and restrain the emergence of unsustainable imbalances. Rehn regards more market-determined exchange rates that reflect economic fundamentals as crucial to improve the global adjustment mechanism.
 In addition, we need to focus on sound and sustainable macroeconomic policies to strengthen the international monetary system. We also need adequate macroprudential and regulatory policies, with a main focus on cross-country linkages and spillovers, both in the IMF and the G20.
 * Second, we are advancing our discussions on how to manage capital flows in the context of the G20 and the IMF. Our aim is to maximise the benefits of free capital flows and minimise the potentially destabilising effects. We need to come to coherent conclusions on the management of capital flows to ensure best practices, as well as maximum benefits and minimum costs for both recipient and source countries.
 The overall objective should be for countries to aim at a carefully sequenced liberalisation of their capital accounts. This, however, needs to be done against the background of the necessary macroeconomic and prudential policies and institutional frameworks.
 * Third, global liquidity management should ensure appropriate levels of liquidity in times of crisis. This requires a further strengthening of global and regional financial safety nets and cooperation between them; the development of local capital markets; a better assessment of the adequate level of reserves; and, an improved reflection of the new economic powers in the international monetary system.
 Rehn points out several emerging market economies are implementing strategies to internationalise their currencies via trade settlement arrangements, offering bilateral swap lines or issuing international bonds. Over time, this is likely to lead to a more multipolar currency system, which consists of several currencies instead of only one main currency.
 Take, for instance, the euro. It has increased its share in global foreign exchange and capital markets constantly since its introduction. Its share in the stock of global foreign exchange reserves increased from 18 per cent in 1999 to over 27 percent in 2009.
 Rehn notes one further step in the direction of greater multipolarity, where progress seems possible, could be the definition of a criteria-based path to broaden the composition of the SDR-basket.
 Since its inception in 1913, the Federal Reserve has helped to devalue the dollar by 96%. During the recent economic crisis, it has poured trillions of dollars into the economy with no oversight, made secret agreements with foreign banks and governments, and has refused to tell Congress who is getting the money or to give it the details of what deals are being made.  Individuals and banks should be free to choose what money they use. This is an

especially controversial, but absolutely essential, component of a truly free

society. The government may not force us to use infinitely-inflatable, green

pieces of paper. Historically, when left free from government-dictated currency,

the overwhelming choice of individuals has been gold money — which has objective

value, a stable quantity, and other qualities that make it an excellent form of

money. Interest rates on a gold standard are set by supply and demand in the

marketplace; there should be no governmental manipulation of interest rates, and

thus no ability of the Federal Reserve to create massive bubbles such as the

dot-com and housing bubbles.

The figures also show that some industrial sectors continue to build up a surplus of allowances to be traded in the third trading period starting in 2013. This highlights the flexibility that emissions trading offers to businesses and also confirms that more can be done to reduce emissions in the next phase at a reasonable economic cost.

 There are plenty of arguments indicating that the real threat is not global warming itself. The real threat comes when kleptocrats start playing with the climate and with all of us. Environmentalism and global warming alarmism ask for restrictions on carbon dioxide emissions, which would substantially increase the costs of energy.  The increase in emissions is in line with widely held expectations and analysts' forecasts ahead of the data release. It can be attributed to the economic recovery following the recession which caused an exceptional 11.6% fall in emissions in 2009. This increase is however likely to be substantially lower than the rebound in output from the installations concerned given that the average industrial production index in the EU 27 increased by 6.7% in 2010 compared to 20092.
 The Global Warming Dogma(GWD) asks for an almost unprecedented expansion of government intrusion into our lives and of government control over us. They tell us how to live, what to do, how to behave, what to consume, what to eat, how to travel, how to spend our holidays and many other things.
 Companies' level of compliance with the EU ETS rules was high. Only 2% of the installations participating did not surrender allowances covering all their 2010 emissions by the deadline of 30 April 2011. These installations are typically small and together account for less than 2% of emissions covered by the EU ETS. Three per cent of installations failed to submit verified emissions for 2010 by the same deadline.
 Since 2008 installations can surrender international emission reduction credits generated through the Kyoto Protocol's flexible mechanisms in order to offset part of their emissions. CERs accounted for 4.7% of all surrenders in 2008-2010. Some 51% of these originated in China, 20% in India, 16% in South Korea and 7% in Brazil, with a further 20 countries of origin accounting for the remaining 6%.
 ERUs have accounted for only 0.4% of all surrenders since 2008. The combined CER and ERU surrenders since 2008 have used up roughly 21% of the approximately 1.4 billion credits that are allowed over the 2008-2012 trading period.

Greece's plan for reducing its budget deficit will fall short unless the government steps up fiscal and structural reform efforts, abolish kleptocracy, abolish VAT, lower all taxes, and stop terrorizing the blogosphere. The first step to recovery is accepting that you have a problem. In that case, it's welcome news to hear more and more Graecokleptocrats talking about the problems being brought on by runaway government spending and political corruption.

 But just as an addict who claims to be on the road to recovery bears watching, the real test comes after they've admitted there's a problem. Of course, some socialists are still in denial. Indeed, they'll even claim they're not spending enough and kickbacks are normal commissions of doing business with government!  Greece is struggling to meet targets set in the 110 billion euro EU/IMF bailout that postponed bankruptcy for a couple of years. It cut its deficit to 10.5 percent of GDP in 2010 and must reduce it to 7.6 percent this year to meet the targets in the bailout. Poul Thomsen of IMF asserts that without further reforms Athens would not be able to reduce the deficit much below 10 percent.
 Europe's top financial officials broke a taboo on Tuesday and acknowledged for the first time that Greece may have to restructure its debts. Bankruptcy would be God's gift to the cradle of kleptocracy, because Greece needs a real shock and awe to recover from political corruption. And it looks like God will manifest his benevolence pretty soon!
 A bankruptcy will also bring the much needed revolution to get rid of Graecokleptocrats. The sooner Graecokleptocracy defaults, the better it will be for all concerned. The bigger the haircut, the worse the pain that follows. The damage being inflicted on Greece is very masochistic. When defaults within the eurozone are accepted, a sensible analysis about how to fix the euro can begin.
 Thomsen, in his first public comments since EU and IMF senior officials started an inspection visit to Greece last week, said it was not clear if Greece would be able to return to bond markets next year as planned.  EU and IMF inspectors are still waiting for Greece to fill gaps in its proposed budget fiscal and privatization plans, which are key to releasing the next tranche of aid, and will continue talks this week, sources have said. Greece will weather some of its immediate financing problems but it cannot reduce the size of its debt Olympus. Restructuring for Greek bonds is inevitable. The motivation for bankruptcy would be to limit the financial exposure and to incentivise the Greek government to stick to the current objective of generating a sizable primary surplus by 2014.
 A large part of Greece's funding is at the short end of the curve; that is

unsustainable so the debt should be swapped for longer-dated paper. New bonds

will incorporate growth targets, so that if Greece achieved a certain GDP growth

rate over a fixed time, the bonds would pay out a higher coupon. In that way,

bondholders might be incentivized to trade in their old debt for something that

could be more advantageous to them, without necessarily taking a haircut. Such a

scheme, based on incentives, could have much less of a negative impact on

markets than an obligatory restructuring.
 Bankruptcies involving higher haircuts are associated with significantly higher subsequent required returns and longer periods of capital market exclusion. The worse the losses inflicted on the bondholders, the more the markets will punish the defaulters, and the longer it will be before the defaulters could access the capital markets again. Greece's debt increases like cancer. Delay isn't an option. It would be better off to impose a 40% loss on bondholders this year than a 70% loss in 2013.
 As the health of much of the global economy weakens on a daily basis, political

leadership increasingly ignores the source of the malady and instead focuses on

short term band-aid remedies. These measures which may buy a few months, or

years, of relative wellbeing, will convince the public that problems have been

solved and will thereby take pressure off governments to make the needed

structural changes. The $1 trillion EU bailout is a perfect example of this

band-aid approach. Napoleon Sarko threatened to pull out of eurozone, unless

Merkel agreed to back the European Union's bailout plan!
 A serious threat to the euro would only emerge if the financial markets lost faith in major debtor countries like Spain and Italy. But there is little evidence of that happening right now, because these countries have all passed austerity measures and there is enough money available on the market. Investors must be able to afford to spurn certain investment opportunities, and this is only possible when there are better alternatives. But within Europe, the chances of finding suitable alternatives are limited. Even if all international investors were to view Germany as the only safe haven on the continent, not all potential lenders would be able to get a piece of the action.
 The euro has been rescued for the moment, but Eurokleptocrats have thrown the

foundations of Fourth Reich's common currency overboard with their unprecedented

bailout package. In the longer term, the dangers of the crisis can only increase, and the flood of billions of euros will lead to inflation. Eurokleptocrats have thrown overboard all the noble principles and promises of the formal, tough treaty-based foundations for the introduction of the euro and the independence of the European Central Bank.
 Eurokleptocrats sacrificed the independence of the European Central Bank and

paved the way for a European Inflation Union. There won't be any state

bankruptcies in the eurozone in the future. ECB will just purchase government

bonds of the country in trouble. The money can't run out as ECB prints it

itself. A flood of money like that can't continue without any consequences. The

currency's stability will be undermined and inflation will destroy Fourth Reich.

 ECB now purchases government bonds in emergencies. Not only has this been

prohibited until now, it also contradicts the central bank's overarching goal,

keeping the value of money stable. Now this taboo is broken, and the very

foundations of eurozone are eroded. ECB's independence' has now been shown to be

nothing more than a sham, a chimera, a will-o'-the-wisp. In the end, ECB and

euro will be punished for this decision to stand down from what had previously

been considered sacred.

 This policy effectively makes ECB a bad bank, a bank that buys up toxic assets

as a means of helping out other institutions, all protestations of its president

to the contrary. The pile of junk bonds on the ECB's balance sheet continues to

grow. The fact that the ECB is keeping prices artificially high is downright

encouraging banks to unload their risky assets onto the central bank.

 The European Central Bank has been buying up Greek bonds by the bucketload, even

though Athens is already getting money from an EU rescue fund. There is a

French plot behind the massive buy-up, as it gives French banks the perfect

opportunity to get rid of their Greek assets. German banks, on the other hand,

are not potential sellers, because they have made a voluntary commitment to

Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble to hold their Greek bonds until May 2013.

ECB is creating excess supply by buying at overinflated prices. In other words,

many creditors are more inclined to sell their risky assets to the central bank

under these terms. It's a free lunch. Anyone who doesn't take advantage of this

opportunity to get rid of his securities now only has himself to blame.

And in the latter, they included a critical statement that said, "No free government, nor the blessings of liberty, can be preserved . . . but by frequent recurrence to fundamental principles."
 Cuccinelli points out our founders well understood that our liberty could not be preserved without frequently referring back to first principles. But while they pledged their lives, their fortunes, and their sacred honor to defend those principles, we have often taken them for granted, as we have become complacent in thinking that government will take care of every problem.
 Nullification declares that member countries of a federation must judge the constitutionality of the acts of their agent, the federal government, since no impartial arbiter between them exists. When the federal government exercises a particularly dangerous power not delegated to it, the countries must refuse to allow its enforcement within their borders. Nullification defies the unexamined premise of the entire political spectrum, according to which society must be organized with a single, irresistible power center issuing infallible commands from the top.
 Cuccinelli muses we have asked government to do more for us, and all the government asks for in return is a little bit more of our liberty. Over the decades, we kept asking. And because the courts and the politicians were all too happy to oblige, regardless of what the Constitution said, we no longer have a federal government of limited powers. We have an overreaching central government — a government that seeks to plan and control virtually every aspect of our lives and our economy, from health care, to energy, to automobile manufacturing, to banking and insurance.
 Thankfully, though, in the last several years, people have woken up and are pushing back. With this pushback, we are seeing the idea of federalism reemerge. Cuccinelli asserts that people want to return to a government of limited, enumerated powers, and an arrangement in which states serve as a check when the federal government oversteps its constitutional bounds.
 In the current lawsuits brought by the states over health care and against the EPA, state governments are pushing back and reasserting federalism as the Founders intended them to do. Indeed, Cuccinelli is not aware of a time in history when this many states have sued the federal government to rein in its power: Today, more than half are parties to lawsuits against the new health care act and its individual health insurance mandate.
 Virginia was the first state to argue in federal court that the new health care law is unconstitutional. When Cuccinelli brought the suit in March 2010, most media outlets and many legal experts said he stood no chance. One law professor said Cuccinelli's argument about constitutionality was, if not frivolous, close to it. Another legal expert said Cuccinelli's case relied on a controversial reading of the Constitution. Apparently, it is controversial to apply the Constitution as it was written. But back in December, when a federal judge ruled in Virginia's favor that the mandate is unconstitutional, assertions that Cuccinelli did not stand a chance faded fast.
 Europeans consider the European Union null and void confederation, because they did not vote for any constitutional treaty!
